It wasn't to be for our Northcote 3rd XI, who were denied by Melbourne 3rd XI.
We batted first and finished with 7/226 on the board from 45 overs. A classy 96 off 106 balls from Marcus Stables was the highlight. Solid support came from Jimmy Anderson, who made 47. Kyle Williamson was the pick of Melbourne 3rd XI's bowlers with three for 41.
In reply, our opponents passed our total, finishing on 2/228 in 40 overs. Credit to Sam Anderson, who made a half-century (64) for the hosts.
Plenty to work on, and plenty to like.
