It wasn't to be for our Northcote 1st XI, who went down to Melbourne 1st XI with lessons to take away.
Melbourne 1st XI batted first and reached 3/287 from 50 overs. A century to Blake Thomson for our opponents: 140 not out. With the ball, Joe Medew-Ewen did the damage, claiming two for 71 off ten overs.
In reply, we finished on 198 from 43.4 overs. Jack Lalor made an excellent 64 off 76 balls, a well-made fifty. Aaron Crispe also got among the runs with 26 off 24 balls. Glenn Hannah was the main threat for the hosts, taking three for 34.
There were some stylish individual efforts to build on.
On to the next one.
